Hall of Fame - ASOPRS Awards

ASOPRS Outstanding Contribution Award
This award is given to a Member or a group of Members who make a significant contribution or contributions to the Society and/or the field. Award is given for project-based contributions, above and beyond “service” and/or committee work. Eligibility: Member(s) in Good Standing.
Awardees

ASOPRS Research Award
This award is given to the author(s) of an outstanding paper, published in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (OPRS), describing original research conducted in the field of OPS. Eligibility: Member(s) in Good Standing (including Candidate Members) with papers published in OPRS from July of the previous year to June of the current year. The Award is given to the primary author, or all authors if authorship is equally shared.

Bartley R. Frueh Award for Best YASOPRS Presentation
Named in memory of ASOPRS Past President, Dr. Bartley Frueh, the ASOPRS Foundation gives the award to the best presentation from each morning's YASOPRS Eye Openers - Rapid Fire Cases and Presentations Sessions during the Fall Scientific Symposium.

Henry Baylis Cosmetic Surgery Award
This award is given to an individual for significant contributions in aesthetic surgery or nonsurgical aesthetic techniques in OPS throughout their career. Eligibility: An individual Member in Good Standing. The recipient of this award presents the Henry Baylis Lecture during the Fall Scientific Symposium.

Lester T. Jones Surgical Anatomy Award
This award is given to an individual who has contributed significantly to the study of surgical anatomy in the field of OPS. Eligibility: An individual Member in Good Standing or nonmember.

Marvin Quickert Thesis Award
This best thesis award is an honorary award given annually for the most outstanding thesis submitted by candidates seeking membership in ASOPRS during the current year.
Awardees

Merrill Reeh Pathophysiology Award
This award is given to the author(s) of an outstanding paper on pathology or understanding the basis of disease in the field of OPS. Eligibility: An individual with a paper published from July of the previous year to June of the current year. The paper does not need to be published in OPRS. The Award is given to the primary author, or all authors if authorship is equally shared. The Thesis Workgroup Chair may also recommend outstanding theses on pathology or understanding the basis of disease in the field of OPS submitted that year for Award’s Committee consideration.

Orkan G. Stasior Leadership Award
This award is given to an individual who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and service in the society and/or field of oculofacial plastic surgery. Award is given for leadership and service in society endeavors, including volunteer leadership roles, and/or significant external service contributions to the field of OPS (e.g. advocacy, humanitarian activities and leadership outside of ASOPRS). Eligibility: An individual Member in Good Standing.

Robert H. Kennedy Presidential Award
Named in memory of ASOPRS 2007 President, Robert Kennedy, MD, PhD, this award is presented to the Society’s Immediate Past President in recognition of their devotion, leadership, and ongoing service to the Society.

Richard K. Dortzbach Teaching Award
This award is given to an individual for significant teaching contributions to OPS and scholarly achievement throughout their career. Eligibility: An individual Member in Good Standing or individual nonmember.

James A. Katowitz Pediatric Award
This award is given to an individual for significant contributions to pediatric OPS throughout their career. Eligibility: An individual Member in Good Standing or individual nonmember.
Awardees

Wendell Hughes Lecture Award
This award is given to an individual, selected by the Wendell Hughes Committee, who delivers the prestigious named lecture in honor of Dr. Hughes, ASOPRS Inaugural President. An annual tradition since 1970, the lecture is delivered at the joint ASOPRS-AAO symposium during the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting each Fall.

The Spring Rising Star Award is awarded to the Best YASOPRS Presentation at the Spring Meeting and is in honor of the highest ASOPRS Foundation Donor from the previous year.
