International Associate

For those practicing solely outside of the US 

Candidates must satisfy at least ONE of the following requirements: 

(1) Have successfully completed an ASOPRS-approved international fellowship (Pathway A)
(2) Be a member of a Reciprocal Society (also Pathway A), or
(3) have practiced at least 5 years with significant experience practicing and teaching in oculofacial plastic surgery (Pathway B). 

International Associates are not eligible to vote, serve on committees or hold elected office in the Society.

Pathway A: For those who have completed an ASOPRS-approved International Fellowship or are a member in good standing of a Reciprocal International Society

You will need:

  1. Application form
  2. CV (PDF)
  3. 2 Letters of Recommendation from current ASOPRS members
  4. If you’ve completed an ASOPRS International Fellowship, documentation of completion
  5. If you’re a member of a Reciprocal Society, a copy of your membership certificate (PDF)

Pathway B: For those who are practicing solely outside of the US and have completed a residency in Ophthalmology (or its equivalent); and can demonstrate significant experience in the practice of oculofacial plastic surgery for five years preceding application

You will need:

  1. Application form
  2. Photo (JPEG no larger than 6GB)
  3. CV (PDF)
  4. 2 Letters of Recommendation from current ASOPRS members
  5. Medical License
  6. Chronological list of surgical procedures performed over the preceding twelve (12) months) and indication of whether the applicant was the surgeon or an assistant. Must be in English.
  7. De-identified copies of your operative reports for each code. In instances where you have performed the procedure numerous times (e.g. blepharoplasty) it is only necessary to send 5 operative reports for this CPT code.

Deadline: International Associate applications are accepted by March 1 and August 1.

International Associate Membership Inductions are held during the Spring and Fall meetings.
