Government Affairs Committee
Purpose To represent the Society in advocacy, regulatory, and legislative issues to legislative bodies, regulatory agencies, and other societies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Represent the Society in advocacy, regulatory, and legislative issues to legislative bodies, regulatory agencies, and other societies.
- Ensure interrelations between special appointments, board, chairs, around advocacy to ensure society is represented accurately and uniformly in all related arenas.
Composition 1. Chair 2. Assistant Chair 3. Advisor 4. AMA Delegate 5. Alternate AMA Delegate 6. AMA CPT Delegate 7. AAO Councilor
Terms The Chair shall serve a five (5) year term, with unlimited reappointments. The Assistant Chair shall serve a five (5) year term, with unlimited reappointments until assuming the role of Chair. Ex-officio AMA Delegate, Assistant AMA Delegate, AMA CPT Delegate, and AAO Councilor shall serve during their time in Office.
Qualifications The Chair and Assistant Chair shall have served on the Committee and have knowledge and expertise with legislative bodies and regulatory agencies.
Time Commitment 5-10 hours per year.
